Depeche Mode explore more alternative and industrial rock production instead of their usual synthpop tendencies and this album is a loose concept album divided into faith - the first five tracks focusing on biblical allusions and metaphors - and devotion. Its sound is raw and rock driven. Depression, sadness, regret and salvation are abundant on the album and if there was ever an album to age well, this is one for the books.
