First imagined 50 years ago, the music in this album sounds as fresh and contemporary today as it did in the swinging Addis Ababa of 1974. Blending jazz with Ethiopian music Astatke created a signature style sound that was cool and complex at the same time and easily engaging. The album has an almost narrative quality and keeps you constantly wondering what's coming next. A world music classic.
