This was the soundtrack to the Beatles' second film. It marked the end of their "boyband" era and  the full fruition of the early half of the Beatle sound. The basic bass/two electric guitars/drums setup started to give way to more acoustics, keyboards and even orchestration with "Yesterday" being the first time a classical influence shows up in pop. There was growing folk music influences, a blast of harmony and some of the most mature introspective lyrics the Beatles had ever written up to that point.
